Six strawberries. Small, uneven, one with a slug bite. Best thing I have eaten all year.
These are the plants a neighbour gave me last autumn as runners in a plastic bag. I put them along the sunny edge of the bed and more or less forgot about them over winter. They clearly did better without my help.
Netting goes on tomorrow. The blackbirds have been watching.
