Pinewood PagesRaised bed, finally
Three springs of saying I would, and this weekend it happened. The bed is made from the old pine planks that were stacked behind the shed since we moved in. Some were too far gone, but there was enough for a frame about 2,4 m by 1,2 m and three boards high.
No treatment on the wood. It will rot eventually, but slowly, and I would rather replace planks every few years than have anything leaching into the soil.
Filled the bottom third with branches and old leaves, then the compost heap (finally useful), then bought topsoil. It took far more soil than I expected. Next weekend: onions and a row of radishes, because they are quick and I am impatient.
